We perform the scans in our lab using “Scitex” scanners. each frame is scanned separately with oil Scanning fluid which makes the film cling to the scanner glass.
that way the focus is evenly conducted throughout the film surface and there is no lack of sharpness in the edges.
The scanning fluid also conceals scratches and dirt and helps the retouching process.
Color negatives or slides are scanned in 16bit which provides wide color separation and a very high quality file.
Black and white negatives are scanned at 8bit.
All scans are made in a resolution of 200 to 300 dpi (depending on the final print size).
At the end of the process the files go through a retouching and color correction stage.
